Impressions and SGIA Highlight Sustainability

Marci Kinter, SGIA Vice President for Government and Business Information.

February 19, 2020

Sustainability and eco-friendly aren’t new terms to the apparel decorating business — especially when it comes to screen printing. But there’s also considerations to keep in mind for embroidery and digital decorating that are better for the planet. Truth is…nothing is really eco-friendly, but it can be eco-friendlier. And our planet needs it more than ever.

The February issue of Impressions magazine is dedicated to giving you the latest and most relevant information to help take your business in the right direction when it comes to cleaning up the environment. Learn about sustainable practices you can easily implement in your shop, including dispelling myths about water-based screen-printing inks being truly eco-friendly. They are better than many inks, but still can contain harmful substances or have issues with being washed down the drain or evaporating into the air. To read more, check out the February issue here.

Also, if you’ll be attending the upcoming Impressions Expo Atlantic City March 19-21, we’ve got more insight from someone on the front lines. The Specialty Graphics Imaging Association’s (SGIA) Marci Kinter is Vice President for Government and Business Information for the association and represents the screen and digital printing industries before federal and state regulatory agencies and the U.S. Congress on environmental, safety and other government issues. She will be giving a very important seminar on Friday, March 19, at Impressions Expo called “Sustainability in the Fashion Industry: Where is it Headed?”

Session 29 will cover sustainable fashion, the circular economy, where is it going and how it impacts the apparel industry. It also will show you how to get a better grasp on the current trends of sustainable fashion and leave you with one or two actionable items based on your current business strategy.
