Equipment Zone to Host DTG Academy in Arizona

November 11, 2019

Equipment Zone, Franklin Lakes, N.J., will host a two-day training academy for direct-to-garment (DTG) printing, to be held Dec. 12-13 in Tempe, Ariz.

Seasoned DTG operators and novice decorators alike will experience a business course designed with both classroom and hands-on experiences. The event will be hosted by industry educator Terry Combs, and also will include other popular industry trainers and presenters such as Jay Busselle, Wade Roen, and Jeff Morgenthaler. Equipment Zone will also have its technical staff available.

The experts will provide instruction on the following topics: The correct DTG printing process and formula for an Epson F2100 DTG printer; the perfect pretreatment application; printing techniques on both light and dark garments; machine maintenance; and the most commonly made mistakes and how to avoid them.

Busselle says owners and operators of a new Epson F2100 DTG printer will have more time to get a deeper level of instruction and insight on all its features. “Each attendee will see the complete direct-to-garment process from start to finish several times and be able to print a few of their own files,” he says.

The Arizona DTG Academy will be kept to a small size (15 attendees) by design. “This allows for a more direct interaction with the instructors and technicians,” Busselle says. “It also encourages more networking with other business owners and production managers.”

The hands-on portion of the training will help new owners and operators gain more confidence, Busselle says. “Attendees are able to see live how we test the limits of the printer and are encouraged to help in the process,” he says. “Attendees are often delightfully surprised that it’s possible and profitable to print on denim jackets, over the front of a zippered hoodie, directly on the bill and crown of an unstructured cap in one pass or directly onto canvas high top sneakers.”

Marketing your DTG services also will be addressed during the two-day event, a subject Busselle says is vital for business owners. “You can have the world’s greatest printer with amazing output capabilities, but if nobody knows you exist, your printer will become an expensive toy,” he says. “The marketing sessions are specific to digital printing and the DTG process. We review hot, niche DTG markets and teach proven marketing strategies to help attendees have actionable ideas to grow their business.”
