In honor of National Recycling Day, November 15, Issaquah, Washington-based blank apparel manufacturer Allmade is sharing a host of materials and resources for those in the decorated-apparel industry, the media and people in general committed to living more sustainably.
Among the new materials are a video describing the company’s sustainability efforts and an online calculator that makes it possible to determine the environmental impact of different garment choices. To see the video on YouTube, click here.
Since its founding Allmade has committed itself to creating sustainable blank T-shirts, tank tops and hoodies composed of a combination of organic cotton and recycled materials. As part of the company’s commitment to sustainability, its factories all run on renewable energy as well.
In the wake of Allmade’s launch in 2016, the company has integrated approximately 51 million water bottles into its fabrics and incorporated 39,317 pounds of cotton scraps into its “Recycled Blend Fabric.”
Moving forward, howeevr, there’s a lot more work to be done, given the fact that in the United States alone, it’s estimated some 60 million plastic water bottles are thrown away each day, with 70 to 80 of these bottles ending up in landfills or as litter.
