BERNINA of America, Aurora, Ill., recently introduced the bernette Chicago 5 sewing machine.
The Chicago 5 offers a selection of functions and features that are easy to use and affordably priced ($699), according to the company.
The machine features 212 stitch patterns, including a one-step buttonhole stitch, 100 decorative stitches and two alphabet fonts. In addition, the Chicago 5 has a 7mm stitch width, an LCD screen with direct-selection buttons, a semi-automatic needle threader, an LED sewing light and a drop-in bobbin system.
Other features include a free arm and a snap-in sewing/accessory table that provides storage space for presser feet and other accessories. The Chicago 5 also has an electronic foot control, an LED system providing bright illumination to the sewing area around the needle and built-in scissors at the front.
