Atlantis Headwear, San Donà di Piave, Venice, Italy, recently announced its partnership with The Enginoars, a rowing team comprised of four engineers, to raise awareness about sustainability and global responsibility.

The partnership was established in early 2022 when The Enginoars approached Atlantis Headwear with a unique opportunity. The team was preparing to undertake the monumental Atlantic Challenge, a grueling 3000-mile row across the Atlantic Ocean, which requires participants to endure almost 40 days of constant rowing, while eating and sleeping on the boat. The primary goal of this challenge is to support and raise funds for Engineers Without Borders, a nonprofit organization that promotes sustainable engineering projects and education.
“We are thrilled to partner with The Enginoars on this incredible journey and contribute to their cause,” says Federico Pasini, Atlantis Headwear Vice President. “At Atlantis Headwear, we believe that sustainable fashion can be a catalyst for positive change and this partnership with the Enginoars allows us to spread that message to a wider audience. We hope that through our collaboration, we can inspire individuals to take action and embrace sustainability in their own lives.”

Atlantis Headwear and the rowing teammates collaborated to design two caps—SAND and HOLLY. With its breathable performance fabric, Repreve® recycled fiber, and stretchable sweatband, SAND was the perfect cap to keep sweat off the Enginoars’ brows and to protect against long days of sun exposure. For windy days and chilly nights, the Enginoars opted for HOLLY, a straight cut, 8.5-inch beanie made of Polylana® fiber (a yarn that is composed of recycled polyester, acrylic and other fibers to ensure softness, warmth and durability).
“We had a great experience partnering with Atlantis Headwear,” says Enginoars teammate, Rufus Mitchell-Heggs. “Their sustainably produced headwear was exactly what we were looking for to help us represent The Enginoars and Engineers Without Borders brands. Not only did this contribute to our ability to grow our brand, but it also enabled our supporters to become part of the team and join our charitable cause.”
The Enginoars “set sail” on December 12, 2022. After 36 days, 8 hours and 57 minutes, the rowing team reached their destination of Antigua’s English Harbor. The Enginoars rowing team consists of Rufus Mitchell-Heggs (UK), Simen Sandtorv Hansen (Norway), Thor-Martin Sandtorv (Norway) and Sindre Toft Nordal (Norway).
