Great Dane Graphics, Mandeville, La., recently received a formal apology from Vovo Inc., Abington, Mass., an apparel company, for stealing a large portion of Great Dane’s portfolio, posting images online and creating garments with the artwork.
Great Dane was then forced to file a federal lawsuit for copyright infringement.
The parties reached an agreement, which included a formal apology from Vovo’s owner, Jonathan Gosselin.
“I stole Great Dane’s designs and used them as my own,” Gosselin said in the apology. “Posting Great Dane’s portfolio online, combined with my failure to pay the requisite license fees, harmed Great Dane and its paying customers, as well as its artists. My actions were both illegal and immoral, and I apologize for my conduct.” — D.S.
