Don’t Miss Shop Talk at Impressions Expo Long Beach 2023

The 2023 Impressions Expo Long Beach Shop Talk program, hosted by Rick Roth (right), promises yet another freewheeling look at the latest in apparel decoration

January 10, 2023

For years now, Impression Expo Long Beach, set to take place January 20-22 at the Long Beach Convention Center, has been known as the place to catch the latest on offer across the decorated apparel industry—whether it be a cutting-edge digital printer, an innovative new embroidery system or heat press, or the latest thing from the world of apparel.

However, the event is also a lot of fun and informative in ways first-timers might not expect, thanks not only to the event’s long-running conference program—which includes sessions on everything from screen-printing and embroidery design and digitizing to the latest marketing ideas—but its celebrated Shop Talk program, hosted by the Ink Kitchen’s Rick Roth, founder of Rhode Island-based Mirror Image Screenprinting & Embroidery.

Taking place, as usual, on a stage set in the heart of the exhibition, this year’s Shop Talk program will consist of over a dozen live, 20-minute conversations, with experts from across the industry analyzing everything from the latest developments in fabrics to advice on leveraging the power of social media to increase sales to Direct to Film (DTF). The conversations are free to anyone who wants to stop by and, because they take place in front of a live audience, offer a spontaneity and vibrancy all their own.

Guests this year will include everyone from the T-Shirt Side Hustle’s Stan Banks talking about how to make the transition from a home business to a screen-printing shop to Tyrone Gregory (the self-employed tax guy) talking about how best to protect you profits and M&R’s Michelle Moxley and Gildan’s Dave Gardner talking about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and garment direction.

Also making an appearance will be Stakes Mfg.’s Jed Seifert discussing the myriad benefits of hiring employees with disabilities—a passion of Seifert’s and one of those areas in which doing the right thing can not only help a company’s bottom line but help change a life (or lives) and also make the world a better pace in general.

Finally, be sure and stop by the Shop Talk stage at 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, for happy hour and presentation of the Shop Talk Lifetime Achievement award.
