Shirt Lab Announces Sales, Marketing Event Series

July 26, 2018

Shirt Lab, Dubuque, Iowa, a new decorated-apparel industry sales and marketing education event series, will host its first event on Oct. 27 in Columbus, Ohio, with a new event to be added every business quarter.

Shirt Lab was created by apparel decorating industry coach Marshall Atkinson and successful shop owner and marketing guru Tom Rauen. Each event will be focused on giving shops the modern best practices for sales and marketing in a workshop/Ted Talk-style hybrid format, according to the company.

Subsequent events scheduled for the first and second quarters of 2019 will be in Atlanta and Portland, Ore., respectively. Cities for the events in the third and fourth quarters of 2019 have not yet been selected.

“This isn’t your typical tradeshow-style lecture,” Rauen says. “Shirt Lab will be interactive, fun and even challenging to shop owners. Our instructors for the day are the best in the business.”

The speaker lineup begins with Jay Busselle teaching his session on “Branding and Selling with Authenticity.” Dan Carr follows by demonstrating the “Top 10 Website Sales Conversion Tips.” Roger Burnett will help shops implement modern lead-generation ideas. Ken Seidl will offer his expertise on sales-closing techniques. Ryonet Founder and CEO Ryan Moor will provide knowledge on using video on social media to increase sales. In Bill Petrie’s session, he will discuss how to “out-Amazon” your competition with promotional products. Finally, Adam Walterscheid ends the day with his “Blue Ocean Strategy” seminar, which will teach everyone how to create their own sales channel.

Furthermore, each speaker will collaborate with an attendee to build a short “help session” that will be presented at the event on their topic.

“We’ll be sending a questionnaire to each attendee, and from that, we’ll be doing some interactive projects with their information that are going to be ground-breaking for events like this,” Rauen says. “Included in that will be our instructors building cases studies to help seven of our attendees’ shops. We want every shop in the audience learning from real-life examples.”

In addition to the Shirt Lab events, Atkinson and Rauen also are starting a new “Shirt Lab Answer Series” podcast, with the first episode debuting Aug. 3.

“This will be an interactive podcast where sales and marketing questions will come from our listeners and we’ll have a series of expert guests answer them,” Atkinson says. — D.S.
