ColDesi Introduces New Spangle Machine

Published: January 23, 2013

ColDesi Inc., Tampa, Fla., introduced ProSpangle — a commercial-quality Hotfix spangle machine — at the 2013 Imprinted Sportswear Shows (ISS) Long Beach event, which was held Jan. 18-20.

“Spangles,” Hotfix spangles specifically, are made from the same material as sequins, but with several differences:

1. No holes. Unlike sequins, spangles do not have a hole in the middle, which can break up a design.

2. Heat applied. Spangles have a heat-activated adhesive and do not require sewing or embroidery.

3. Long lasting. The Hotfix adhesive binds to the fabric, and since there are no threads, there’s nothing to get cut or damaged when the garment is worn or washed.

ProSpangle produces a “transfer” just like a rhinestone transfer, making it simple to store and to ship, according to the company. The machine offers speeds of 600 to 800 spangles per minute and comes with Hoftix Era from Sierra software. The spangles are available in sizes 2mm to 9mm, and designs have zero lead content and a very soft hand.
