Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA), Fairfax, Va., has named environmental, health and safety (EHS) expert Gary A. Jones as its director of environmental, health and safety affairs.
“Gary has dedicated his career to helping printing companies improve their safety and environmental performance, and navigate an often-confusing array of federal and state regulations,” says Melissa Ferrari, SGIA senior vice president of member services. “We’re excited to have him join SGIA’s Government & Business Information department, and expand the support and services we offer not only our members but also the entire printing industry.”
Jones will be a primary resource for printers and printing-industry suppliers investigating EHS issues, while representing the printing industry to federal, state and local agencies, and providing technical support on EHS compliance requirements and sustainability programs directly to SGIA member companies.
In addition, Jones will continue to provide support on EHS compliance and other matters to members of the Printing Industries of America (PIA) through its national network of affiliates, according to the organization.
“EHS issues are critical to the economic health of a company and the well-being of its employees,” Jones says. “At SGIA, I will be able to provide EHS support to more segments of the printing industry and work to ensure that the regulations do not impose hardships and unnecessary costs.” — D.S.
