Los Angeles — Lane Seven Apparel has released the latest feature in its “Meet the Innovator” video series, this time highlighting Mikala Meidl, CEO of Ambient Inks, a Wisconsin-based screen-printing and fulfillment company known for pioneering sustainable merchandise in the music industry.
The episode chronicles Meidl’s journey from washing screens in her college dorm to leading one of the most respected eco-conscious print shops in the U.S. Today, Ambient Inks is recognized for helping artists and brands adopt greener production practices without compromising creativity or quality.
“One of the terms we coined a few years back was ‘good attracts good,’” Meidl says. “If we’re doing good things as a company—whether that’s through sustainability, conscious business practices, or volunteer work—that will attract similar clients and people with similar mindsets.”
Sustainable Music Merch with Purpose
In the feature, Meidl reflects on Ambient Inks’ decade-long partnership with Bon Iver, which she says helped both teams push for more responsible materials and production processes.
“The reality is that a fan’s going to buy a shirt no matter what at a show,” Meidl explains. “Ultimately, if someone’s holding on to that shirt for 30 years, that’s more sustainable than the shirt they wore one time and donated.”
Through Ambient Inks, Meidl continues to show that eco-friendly printing and lasting fan connections go hand-in-hand, proving sustainability and profitability can coexist in modern merch programs.
Celebrating Creators Behind the Presses
Lane Seven’s “Meet the Innovator” series celebrates the artists, printers, and creative leaders who use Lane Seven blanks to tell stories that go beyond apparel. Each installment explores the people shaping the future of print, community, and sustainable fashion.
“These innovators remind us that apparel decoration is about impact as much as it is about design,” said a Lane Seven spokesperson. “Mikala’s story captures that spirit perfectly — creating art that matters and doing it responsibly.”
