Polartec LLC, Lawrence, Mass., recently announced that its partner brand, Norrøna, has released the 29 warm4 up-cycled Jacket —made entirely of REPREVE 100 yarn from Unifi.
The 100% recycled garment, constructed from Polartec Wind Pro fleece, features a high-loft interior, and is four times more wind resistant than traditional fleece, highly breathable, durable and water repellent, according to the company.
The REPREVE 100 yarn used in the jacket was made from recycled bottles collected in Norway. About 40 plastic bottles are used to make each jacket and the company estimates that production uses 20% less energy than a virgin fleece.
