Published: June 15, 2015

From May 20-21, the Promotional Products Association International (PPAI), Irving, Texas, hosted its sixth-annual PPAI L.E.A.D. (Legislative Education and Action Day) and Virtual Fly-In in Washington, D.C.

The PPAI L.E.A.D. is a gathering of PPAI leadership, members and industry professionals from around the country to educate Congress on industry-critical issues, as well as the power, impact and job-generating value of promotional products.

During PPAI L.E.A.D., nearly 78 advocates from 30 states conducted more than 250 meetings with senators, congressional representatives and their legislative staffs on Capitol Hill.

During the meetings, industry leadership, small-business owners and executives from PPAI urged legislators to consider issues and legislation important to the promotional products industry, including:
– Promotional products as a powerful, cost-effective communications tool
– Advertising expenditures
– Independent contractors and the promotional products industry
– Adapting the global supply chain to ensure ease of international operations
– Creating a tax climate that rewards small businesses while reducing the deficit
– Protecting and preserving the interests of small businesses and encouraging policies that drive innovation and entrepreneurship.
