Irvine, California — Roland DG Corporation has teamed up with Roland Corporation (the music company) for a special “808 DAY” event, running Aug. 8–31, at the Roland Store Tokyo. This flagship retail location is known for immersive displays and hands-on experiences that celebrate the Roland brand’s musical legacy.
As part of the celebration, visitors will have the chance to explore the iconic TR-808 Rhythm Composer, the world’s first programmable percussion machine and a staple in electronic music production.
To mark the occasion, customers who purchase a new SP-404MKII electronic audio sampler will receive a limited-edition faceplate inspired by the TR-808’s signature look. The custom faceplate was printed using Roland DG’s VersaOBJECT™ MO-240 UV flatbed printer, which enabled the team to recreate the vibrant orange and red hues that define the original TR-808 design.
Thanks to the MO-240’s expanded ink gamut, which includes both Orange and Red inks, the high-definition print delivers impressive color accuracy directly on the metal faceplate of the sampler—an eye-catching and functional tribute to one of Roland’s most beloved instruments.
