RTP Apparel Supports Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team

Published: October 2, 2018

RTP Apparel, New Philadelphia, Ohio, recently supported the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team (WWAST) at an event held this past Aug. 17-19 at Foundation Field in Hamilton, Ohio.

The event was designed to showcase that being an amputee doesn’t mean life is limited. The WWAST is comprised of competitive, athletic veterans and active-duty soldiers who have lost limbs while serving their country. Some still are serving, while others are attending college or have moved on to new careers. They now travel the country playing able-bodied teams in competitive, celebrity and exhibition softball games (see video above).

RTP Apparel supported the event by donating shirts to be used by a direct-to-garment (DTG) decorator in Hamilton for the event.

Recognizing the positive impact WWAST players have on children with amputations or missing limbs, it created a softball camp for such children where WWAST players serve as the coaches and mentors. Kids Camp has become an annual WWAST event to continue the mission of educating and inspiring children who face many of the same challenges as the WWAST players.
