Screen Printing Tip of the Week: Using a Temperature Gun

Published: August 29, 2012

The temperature inside dryers can fluctuate, leading to either an under- or over-cure of ink on a garment.

To ensure the curing process is successful, it is often recommended that screen printers use a temperature gun. This tool can help ensure the interior dryer temperature remains stable. During use, it is important to aim the gun at the ink print, not the garment material, for an accurate read.

Typically, plastisol inks need to be uniformly heated to 320˚F in order for the curing process to be successful.
