SpectraUSA, Chino, Calif., has acquired California-based dye-artistry studio Tie Dye Tees, which will be incorporated into the SpectraUSA organization by the end of April.
Tie Dye Tees has been a steadily rising presence in the apparel industry with its signature custom-line work in the marquee brand T-shirt manufacturing space, according to the company. Tie Dye Tees asked SpectraUSA to help improve the logistics and day-to-day handling of its operation.
“No, this was a lock, stock and barrel deal,” says Spectra head Brian McLaughlin when asked if either company had to lay off staff during the acquisition process. “We’ve created an entirely new division at Spectra to accommodate their studio and keep these jobs in California.”
Due to the design team’s knowledge of dyes, dye processes and print, McLaughin says the acquisition is “game-changing for Spectra” and its wholesale customers.
SpectraUSA currently plans to incorporate the Tie Dye Tees inventory into its own existing range, while still allowing the Tie Dye team flexibility in the creative process. — D.S.
