Transfer Express Wins SGIA Sustainable Business Recognition Award

Published: May 8, 2019

Transfer Express, Mentor, Ohio, was awarded the “2019 Sustainable Business Recognition Award” by the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA).

The award is given as part of an annual program that acknowledges “companies’ initiatives in the previous year that reduced their environmental footprints and/or improved business efficiency and employee safety and health,” according to the association.

Transfer Express partnered with SACS Consulting in 2017 to conduct a detailed threat assessment for the company’s facilities. Upgrades, resulting from the assessment, included transferring the monitoring of alarms, cameras and building access control to the company’s headquarters in Michigan.

Employees stated how they felt more secure in parking lots and in the building, with more improvements planned to further improve staff security and safety, according to the company.

In other sustainable efforts, the company’s prepress room incorporated a new auto dryer, which decreased the amount of time it takes an employee to load and reload screens for drying by 30% and increased production output from 17 screens an hour to 45 screens an hour. — D.S.
