Vapor Apparel, N. Charleston, S.C., is still maintaining operations with a reduced schedule and many office personnel working from home.
The 15-year-old brand known for sublimation friendly apparel and UPF50+ sun protection gear has seen an uptick in the demand for neck/face gaiters and bulk fabrics, according to the company.
“We are working with several companies who are making PPE items (Personal Protection Equipment) with our anti-microbial fabrics in an attempt to support health care professionals and the general public’s attempts to stem the virus,” says Chris Bernat Vapor co-founder. “We are also hearing from multiple distribution partners about the need for more of these items. As a result, we are now making a Made in the USA version of the Gaiter.”
The company also is developing new products based on requests, including fabric-based masks for the sublimation industry.
“Coming out of this we are going to see a new normal and different levels of PPE are going to be part of that,” Bernat says. “I don’t think people are going to look at you strangely if you wear a mask on a plane come this fall.”
