Roland DGA Releases Free White Paper on Direct-to-Film (DTF) Apparel Decoration

Published: November 4, 2025

Roland DGA, a manufacturer of a range of direct-to-film (DTF) printers for the decorated apparel industry, has released an up-to-date white paper on how existing screen-printing shops can leverage DTF to grow their business.

According to Roland DGA, “Direct-to-film (DTF) printing is emerging as one of the most impactful advancements in apparel decoration today. Screen printers are increasingly turning to DTF to complement, not replace, their traditional workflows.”

“Offering DTF printing gives screen printers the opportunity to handle a wider range of customer requests without overextending staff or production capacity. Unlike shops new to apparel decoration, screen printers already have deep expertise in garment printing, color matching, and managing high-volume workflows. These skills provide a strong foundation for adding DTF as a complementary process,” the study says.

Specific topics covered by the paper include:

  • What DTF is and how it differs from other apparel printing methods
  • How DTF can fit into an existing decorated apparel shop’s current workflow
  • Best practices for onboarding and vendor selection
  • What types of jobs and clients DTF is best suited for

The paper also provides a case study of how an actual screen-printing shop is currently using DTF to grow its business and diversify its services. To download a copy of the white paper for free, click here.
