Ash City, Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, part of the alphabroder family, commemorated Earth Day this year by removing waste from its indoor office space and surrounding outdoor community area.
The cleanup sessions took place on April 22 in and around the company’s Richmond Hill headquarters, with the goal of collecting as much waste as possible. The teams collected more than 140 pounds of garbage and more than 1,400 pounds of recycling.
“It’s imperative that both our employees and the individuals within the community recognize the damaging effects that an abundance of waste can have on the environment, and as a promotional and corporate apparel company, it is our continued goal to remain active participants in social responsibility within the community,” says Angela Sheridan, senior marketing services manager, Ash City.
The company recognizes the negative effects that production can have on the environment, and with this in mind, Ash City has taken steps to eliminate unnecessary pollution. In early 2007, Ash City introduced its e.c.o (ecological clothing options) line of clothing. Using organic, sustainable, renewable and recycled fibers in its fabrics, the company produces eco-friendly apparel that helps lessen the burden on our globe’s natural resources.
The corporate headquarters also has been recognized as being energy efficient, reducing energy consumption by more than 50%, recycling products and reusing rainwater runoff to irrigate surrounding lawns.
