Irvine, Calif. — Roland DG has announced a series of engineering and performance enhancements to its TY-300 direct-to-film (DTF) printer, reinforcing the system’s position as a high-efficiency, production-ready solution for apparel decorators operating in demanding, high-volume environments.
The updated TY-300 features expanded ink system capacity, improved white-ink stability, and workflow optimizations designed to support extended print runs with minimal downtime. A key enhancement includes doubling the on-board white-ink capacity, reducing cartridge changes while maintaining continuous circulation—an important advantage for shops running multi-shift or high-duty-cycle production.
DTF printing relies on consistent, high-density white ink for opacity and underbases. The TY-300’s upgraded white-ink system automatically manages supply during longer runs, minimizing interruptions caused by ink-out conditions and supporting uninterrupted production.
The printer maintains its industry-leading performance, delivering print speeds of up to 47 linear feet per hour in standard mode and 75 linear feet per hour in high-speed mode, providing nearly 50% higher productivity compared to comparable DTF units. This output is driven by a dual-printhead architecture, optimized firing patterns, and high-efficiency drying control for stable CMYK + White layering with minimal grain and banding.
Advanced color management, including Roland DG’s True Rich Color technology, delivers a broader color gamut, smoother gradients, and more consistent grays—critical for apparel graphics with fine details and tonal variation. The four-cartridge white-ink configuration helps maintain uniform opacity across large coverage areas while improving edge definition, even at faster print speeds.
Reliability has also been enhanced through updates to the TY-300’s automated maintenance system, including continuous ink circulation, scheduled head-refresh cycles, and user-replaceable components designed to reduce downtime and extend printhead life. These features help minimize manual intervention in multi-operator production environments.
“DTF continues to evolve at remarkable speed, and our customers rely on stable, high-performance systems that can sustain heavy production workloads,” said Ryugo Nimura, executive officer, global sales and marketing division at Roland DG. “With the updated TY-300, we’ve enhanced the core components that directly impact throughput, uptime, and ink stability, ensuring it remains a benchmark for production efficiency in the DTF category.”
The TY-300 integrates with VersaWorks RIP, certified DTF films and powders, and Roland DG Care support to create a unified DTF ecosystem. The printer is also designed for seamless integration with an optional shaker and dryer unit to automate powder application and support high-volume workflows.
Roland DG’s S-PG2 inks remain OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT certified, supporting compliance-driven apparel production while offering low-waste performance, reduced ink consumption, and durable wash results.
The updated TY-300 DTF printer is available now through authorized Roland DGA dealers across the United States, Canada, and Latin America.
