Sawgrass Technologies Inc., Charleston, S.C., unveiled its new HD product decorating system Virtuoso today at ISS Long Beach.
Part of a long-term, private-label OEM purchase agreement with Ricoh Company Ltd., the fully integrated high-definition product decorating system is designed for digital decorators looking for a smaller footprint without sacrificing productivity, efficiency or quality. It delivers improved yield performance, faster speeds, higher print resolution and increased gamut, according to the company.
“This game-changing technology has three components, including the industry’s first purpose-built sublimation printer for digital decorating,” says Mike McEvoy, director of marketing communications. Offering resolutions up to 1200 x 1200 dpi, the printer produces HD photo-quality reproduction.
The second component of the system is the company’s sublijet HD environmentally friendly water-based inks. The newly formulated inks offer higher yield and 26% larger color gamut, according to the company.
Also bundled with the system at no additional cost, the PowerDriver color management application and the new CreativeStudio online designer eliminate the need for separate desktop graphics software, offering hundreds of templates and thousands of images to choose from.
While the company intends to grow the Virtuoso brand in the future, this first solution focuses on the sublimation market. The new Virtuoso SG 400 8.5” x 14” (A4) and SG 800 13” x 19” (A3+) printers will be sold through Sawgrass’ global distribution network.
