Stahls’ CAD-CUT Direct, St. Clair Shores, Mich., recently released a new video that demonstrates how to create animal print patterns using CadworxLIVE, CAD-CUT heat transfer materials, a vinyl cutter and a heat press.
Shown above, the 10-minute video presentation by Josh Ellsworth, general manager at Stahls’ CAD-CUT Direct, shows three techniques.
The first technique, which is a direct overlap, is a two-color design created for use with CAD-CUT heat transfer materials, a vinyl cutter and a heat press.
The second demo, which Ellsworth calls the “show-through technique,” shows how to create a pattern with only one color of CAD-CUT heat transfer film, a cutter and a heat press. This method uses the garment color as the background. The area around the animal pattern is weeded out, making this process more labor intensive; however, it uses only one color of film, which lowers the material cost.
The third technique is called the “trapping method.” It is recommended when using materials that can’t be layered on top of each other. It creates a trap with just enough overlap to maintain the registration of the two material colors.
