Heat Printing Mishap Exposed Before MLB Game

Published: May 29, 2015

Mistakes are going to happen in any facet of apparel decorating, especially when an order is made on short notice.

But some of those missteps garner more attention than others.

Such was the case this week when the Atlanta Braves acquired infielder Juan Uribe from the Los Angeles Dodgers, who they just so happened to be playing. One night Uribe was playing in a Dodgers uniform, and the next afternoon, he needed a Braves uniform.

The local decorator must have rushed the heat-pressing technique, or perhaps the temperature setting or pressure was incorrect, because the “I” in Uribe’s last name fell off his batting-practice jersey, leaving “Ur be” to be seen in front of plenty of cameras. According to media reports, a Braves staff member fixed the error with a strip of masking tape.

Uribe was good-natured about the mistake and laughed it off, according to Fox Sports, though some customers will not take these types of problems as lightly. Either way, this is a good reminder that even the tiniest decorating mistake can end up in the spotlight on national television. — J.B.
