Promoting Sustainability in the Decorated Apparel Industry

Published: March 28, 2024

In this installment of the Impressions Shop Talk series, host Rick Roth, founder of Mirror Image Screen Printing & Embroidery and the Ink Kitchen, sits down with Yoann Giorsetti, managing director of the heat transfer vinyl and equipment manufacturer Siser North America, to discuss various different approaches to sustainability in the decorated-apparel sector in the United and how custom apparel decorators as a group can influence our suppliers to pursue more sustainable practices.

Strategies for Screen Printer, Embroiderers, Heat Pressing Professionals

According to Giorsetti there are many ways apparel decorators (including screen printers, digital decorators, embroiderers and head-press decorators) and suppliers can reduce their environmental impact, including using renewable energy sources, reducing energy consumption, conserving water, reducing waste generation, designing for recyclability and employing recycled materials.

Roth and Giorsetti’s conversation was recorded at part of last year’s Impressions Expo in Atlantic City, New Jersey. For more on all three Impressions Expo, including the expos in Long Beach, California, and Fort Worth, Texas, click here.
