In addition to the abundance of commerce that took place at last month’s Impressions Expo in Atlantic City, New Jersey, the Ink Kitchen, with the help of supporters throughout the decorated-apparel industry, was also able to help give back to the local community: specifically, by helping out Adelaide’s Place, a not-for-profit day shelter providing an inviting, safe and secure environment for homeless women.

Spearheading this effort, was the Ink Kitchen’s poster printing station, a fun, philanthropic fixture at all three Impressions Expos. As in expos past, the Ink Kitchen also collected as much leftover display apparel as possible at the end of the show that it then distributed to those in need as well. The results of its efforts: $8,000 in donations and around $5,000 worth of clothing, which was picked up the Sunday after the show by Adelaide’s partner charity Angels in Motion.

“A big shout out to Brian Potash of Devilfish Ink who with no notice came in to print the posters when Andy MacDougall came down with Covid,” the Ink Kitchen’s Rick Roth said. “We [also] had some nice signage at the show highlighting the sponsors at registration and at the printing location.”

Kudos as well to poster designer Alyx Spurrier for a truly outstanding image. For those who haven’t yet had a chance to check out or obtain one of the Ink Kitchen’s Impressions Expo posters, you really are missing out on some outstanding examples of the screen-printer’s art.

The Ink Kitchen’s Atlantic City success comes in the wake of similar success at the Impressions Expo in Long Beach, California, and Fort Worth Texas. Overall in 2023 the Ink Kitchen made donations of $7,652 to the Care Closet in Long Beach, California; $7,222 to Adelaide’s Place; and $6,750 to UpSpire in Fort Worth, Texas. Ink Kitchen also facilitated the donation of approximately $36,000 worth of surplus clothing from the Long Beach and Fort Worth expos to Care Closet LBC and UpSpire.
