Roland DG has expanded its industrial direct-to-object printing portfolio with the launch of the VersaObject IO-300 and VersaObject RC-300 Series, two UV printing solutions developed for high-mix, short-run manufacturing and customized product decoration.
The two platforms address different direct-to-object applications. The IO-300 provides UV flatbed printing for industrial parts, rigid substrates and customized goods, while the RC-300 Series is designed to print directly onto cylindrical products such as bottles, tumblers, drinkware, packaging and promotional items.
“Businesses today need production solutions that can adapt quickly to changing customer demands without compromising quality or profitability,” says Kevin Shigenoya, executive officer, New Business Office, Roland DG. He adds that both systems are intended to help users accommodate shorter runs, increased customization and faster turnaround times.
VersaObject IO-300 Targets Industrial UV Printing
Designed for industrial parts decoration and product customization, the IO-300 incorporates newly developed printheads, advanced dot control and Roland DG UV ink technology. The printer reaches production speeds of up to 37.6 square feet per hour in standard CMYK mode and supports the company’s EUV-H Hard Ink in CMYK, white, primer and gloss configurations.
The system also offers multilayer printing for applications requiring precise registration, including control panels, nameplates, promotional products, cosmetic packaging and customized consumer goods.
Its 30-by-20-inch print area accommodates materials including polycarbonate, ABS, acrylic, PVC, glass, aluminum and stainless steel. Integrated controls, VersaWorks RIP software and Roland DG Connect provide additional production and workflow-management capabilities.
RC-300 Series Expands Cylindrical Decoration
The VersaObject RC-300 Series, consisting of the RC-300 and RC-300c, uses helical UV printing to decorate cylindrical and tapered objects. Applications include bottles, tumblers, cans, drinkware and other promotional, packaging and consumer products, including objects with convex or concave geometries.
Both models target short runs, premium customization and limited-edition production. The RC-300c adds capabilities for clear or translucent objects, including pre-filled or pre-labeled bottles, opening applications in beverage, cosmetics and specialty packaging.
Compatible substrates include glass, PET, aluminum, steel and rigid plastics. Roland DG’s EUV-H inks are available in CMYK, white, gloss and primer for producing detailed graphics and specialty finishes without custom tooling.
According to Roland DG, the RC-300 Series can print a medium-sized object, such as a 20-ounce tumbler, in approximately 60 seconds under the company’s specified test conditions, positioning the platform for personalized products, seasonal campaigns and short-run promotional work.
