MONTREAL — As demand continues to grow for premium promotional products with vibrant, full-color decoration, Spector & Co is expanding its digital production capabilities through Inkcups’ direct-to-object (DTO) printing technology. The investment allows the promotional products supplier to deliver higher-quality decoration across an increasingly diverse lineup of drinkware, bags, journals, pens and lifestyle products while maintaining production efficiency.
According to the company, today’s promotional products buyers expect merchandise that feels more like retail products than traditional giveaways, making decoration quality a key differentiator. Industry research cited by Inkcups found consumers value durability, design and material quality when evaluating promotional products.
Investing in Digital Decoration
Seeking greater flexibility for full-color graphics and variable-data applications, Spector & Co invested in Inkcups’ direct-to-object technology to complement its existing decoration capabilities.
“Traditional methods are very effective, but they can have limitations depending on the product, design complexity, or run size,” said Alan Meinstein, CEO of Spector & Co. “We were looking for ways to increase flexibility, particularly for full-color decoration and more complex or variable applications.”
The company initially adopted Inkcups’ X2 flatbed UV printer before expanding with X5 flatbed systems and, more recently, the XJET Switch for reusable bags. Today, Spector & Co also operates Inkcups Helix cylindrical printing systems to decorate drinkware and other cylindrical products.

Expanding Product Capabilities
The expanded digital platform enables Spector & Co to produce vibrant full-color graphics with white ink across a wider variety of promotional products while supporting both short-run and complex jobs.
The company says Inkcups’ equipment integrates smoothly into its production environment while providing reliable installation, training and ongoing service. The technology also helps the supplier deliver consistent print quality, greater customization and premium finishes across its growing product portfolio.
Supporting Long-Term Growth
Spector & Co says the investment has strengthened its position as a promotional products supplier by giving distributor partners access to higher-value decorated merchandise.
“It reinforces our value proposition around quality and execution, which supports both sales and long-term relationships,” Meinstein said. Looking ahead, the company expects direct-to-object printing to play an even greater role as brands continue seeking personalized, retail-quality promotional products.
