Sawgrass Technologies Inc., Charleston, S.C., has entered into an agreement under which Seiko Epson Corp., Japan, will serve as its authorized licensee, selling inks for sublimation imaging.

Seiko Epson is a global imaging company offering a broad range of electronics. The company’s printers, as well as its patented piezo electric print heads, are used in the dye sublimation market.

The license agreement will allow Seiko Epson to legally enter the dye sublimation ink business with printers having a carriage width greater than 42 inches. Seiko Epson joins a group of companies who have signed similar licenses agreement with Sawgrass, including BASF, Hilord Chemical, Huntsman, InkTec, J-Tech, Kiian Group, Kiwa Chemical, Mimaki Engineering Co., Nazdar and Sensient Technologies.

“We are very pleased to have a world-class company like Seiko Epson enter into a license agreement,” says Nathan Hale, CEO of Sawgrass. “It is a validation of our hard work over the past 25 years and the innovation that is reflected in our growing intellectual property portfolio of more than 161 patents.”
