Mount Vernon FR Launches New Fabrics at SAFETY 2013

Published: July 3, 2013

Mount Vernon FR, Mauldin, S.C., will unveil new flame-resistant (FR) fabrics and finishes at the American Society of Safety Engineers’ (ASSE) SAFETY 2013.

The company’s new fabrics include FlexTex and amDry. Developed for increased comfort and movability, FlexTex fabrics include an elastomeric fiber that allows fabric to flex up to 14% with a 97% recovery. FlexTex adds mobility to fabric with no reduction in FR protection, so workers experience increased freedom and range of motion, according to the company. The fabrics also have a bilateral flex that allows them to elongate sideways and diagonally. FlexTex fabrics meet requirements of ASTM F1506, and National Safety Apparel was the first to adopt the new collection.

Mount Vernon FR also is introducing amDry, a durable water-repellent finish that can be applied to any of the company’s fabrics to deliver protection to workers in water-intensive jobs and industries. Fabrics finished with amDry have a spray rating of 90/100.

As part of the launch of these new fabrics, Mount Vernon FR also hosted a press event called “The Future of FR Fabrics” at SAFETY 2013, which was held June 24-27 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
