Charles Apparel Launches Volunteer Program

Published: June 7, 2013

Charles River Apparel, Sharon, Mass., launched its first-ever Charles River Cares program in support of April’s National Volunteer week.

The company began National Volunteer Week with a clothing drive, collecting hundreds of garments to benefit two local charities, Cradles to Crayons and Circle of Hope.

Employees were given the opportunity to volunteer on company time at Cradles to Crayons, a non-profit organization that provides clothing and other essential items to children living in homeless or low-income situations. Volunteers sorted hundreds of pieces of children’s apparel, creating sets of clothing that will be given directly to infants and children. Charles River Apparel had more than 50% employee participation in its company-sponsored event.

“The work that Cradles to Crayons does to better the lives of those in need is truly astounding,” says Barry Lipsett, president and owner of Charles River Apparel. “It was inspiring to see how many employees got involved and were able to see the direct impact of their efforts in making a child’s life better.”
