CustomInk Celebrates the T-shirt’s 100th Birthday

Published: March 28, 2013

CustomInk, Tysons Corner, Va., is launching a nationwide celebration for the T-shirt’s 100th birthday.

Since 1913 when the T-shirt first appeared as standard-issue gear within the U.S. Navy, the iconic garment has become an essential part of the American wardrobe and identity.

CustomInk’s birthday campaign includes surveys, testimonies, statistics, a birthday webpage — tshirtbirthday.com — social media activity and an augmented reali-TEE app that will launch this summer.

Each month — between now and summer — CustomInk also will feature a limited-edition, custom-designed T-shirt representing each branch of our military. Sales will benefit the Yellow Ribbon Fund. This month’s T-shirt is available here.
