Robert B. Dundas, founder of heat-transfer company X-iT! Inc., Allentown, Pa., has passed away. He was 81.
A pioneer in the heat-applied graphics industry, Dundas began applying heat transfers on his basement ironing board in 1973. He later opened a retail store in Canada, and branched out into distributing heat-applied transfers, driving 2,000 miles to attend the very first Imprinted Sportswear Shows (ISS) [link] event in Dallas in 1978.
Dundas ventured to the United States in 1980, starting on the shores of New Jersey in Wildwood. He honed his craft until 1992, when he launched X-iT! Inc.
The company was an instant success, and Dundas’ charm and principle of “customer service first” have served the X-iT! well until this day. Dundas will be missed by many.
