ISSAQUAH, Wash. — SanMar will return as the presenting sponsor of Seattle’s iconic Beat the Bridge for Breakthrough T1D race in 2026, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to community impact and type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.

Now in its 44th year, the event will take place May 9 at Husky Stadium on the University of Washington campus, bringing together thousands of runners, walkers and families in support of the T1D community.

A Community-Driven Event with Lasting Impact

Participants can choose from an 8K race, 3-mile walk, 1-mile fun run or the popular Diaper Derby, making the event accessible to all ages and ability levels. Beat the Bridge remains one of the largest and most recognizable fundraising events for T1D research in the U.S.

Last year’s race drew more than 6,500 participants and raised over $2.7 million to support Breakthrough T1D’s mission to accelerate life-changing treatments and cures.

Personal Connection Fuels Continued Support

SanMar’s involvement is rooted in both corporate values and personal connection.

“Breakthrough T1D isn’t just an organization we support—it’s provided a community for my family and for others at SanMar who live with type 1 diabetes,” said Jeremy Lott, President and CEO of SanMar. “By continuing this work together, we’re helping advance better treatments and move closer to a cure.”

The company’s commitment is also reflected in its broader role as a national sponsor of the Breakthrough T1D Walk series.

Supporting Research, Awareness and Connection

“Beat the Bridge has long been part of the fabric of our community,” said Jennifer Larson, Chief People Officer at SanMar. “Partnering with Breakthrough T1D allows us to support meaningful research and show up in a way that reflects who we are.”

Founded in 1983, Beat the Bridge has raised more than $37 million to fund research, improve care access and support policies aimed at treating and ultimately curing T1D.
