SanMar Corp., Issaquah, Wash., recently donated 1,000 backpacks to the Issaquah Food Bank.
The backpack drive ran through the month of July, with each department in SanMar’s corporate office competing to bring in the most backpacks. Employees collected more than 750 backpacks and SanMar provided an additional 250 to meet the needs of students at 24 schools in Issaquah.
“We want to ensure that the kids in our community are armed with the tools for success when they head back to school,” said Lee Strom, senior marketing manager at SanMar. “We know that many families are struggling in this tough economy and it’s important to us to do our part help out.”
