S&S Activewear Launches ApparelSoft IQ to Improve Inventory Forecasting for Apparel Decorators

Machine learning-powered intelligence platform uses decades of apparel distribution data to reduce stockouts, improve fulfillment, and strengthen inventory planning across S&S Activewear’s network

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. — S&S Activewear has launched ApparelSoft IQ, a proprietary machine learning-powered intelligence layer designed to improve demand forecasting, optimize inventory decisions, and enhance product availability for customers across the branded merchandise and decorated apparel markets.

According to the company, the new technology has already been operating in production for more than six months and has helped drive out-of-stock levels to the lowest point in company history, particularly across S&S exclusive proprietary and retail brands.

Machine Learning Meets Blank Apparel Inventory Management

ApparelSoft IQ marks S&S Activewear’s latest technology investment aimed at solving one of the most persistent operational challenges in apparel distribution: maintaining deep, reliable inventory across thousands of SKUs, sizes, colors, and fulfillment locations.

Initially focused on demand forecasting and inventory optimization, the intelligence layer is designed to analyze purchasing trends and anticipate customer demand before supply disruptions occur.

“Inventory planning has been near and dear to my heart since my first day at S&S,” said Frank Myers, CEO of S&S Activewear.

“We believed then, and know now, that having deep and reliable inventory is the most fundamental thing we can do for our customers. ApparelSoft IQ is a milestone in that journey.”

Decades of Apparel Data Power Predictive Inventory Decisions

S&S said ApparelSoft IQ is powered by one of the largest proprietary datasets in the branded merchandise industry, combining more than 35 years of historical S&S data with information from alphabroder following its 2024 acquisition.

That dataset spans product styles, colorways, sizing trends, geographic demand patterns, and customer segment purchasing behavior.

By applying machine learning models to that data, the system generates purchasing recommendations and inventory placement decisions intended to reduce stockouts, improve allocation efficiency, and support higher in-stock rates.

For decorators, that could mean fewer fulfillment disruptions, reduced split shipments, and more dependable access to in-demand blank apparel.

ApparelSoft ERP Integration Drives Real-Time Supply Chain Action

Because ApparelSoft IQ is built directly into S&S Activewear’s proprietary ApparelSoft ERP platform, its forecasting insights can immediately influence purchasing, vendor orders, inventory transfers, and broader supply chain execution.

S&S said its distribution platform currently operates at 99.9% order accuracy, and the new intelligence layer is intended to further improve operational responsiveness.

“This starts with a highly sophisticated forecasting system built specifically for the blank apparel industry,” said Josh Clark, COO of S&S Activewear.

“We’re not just reacting to demand; we’re anticipating it and positioning inventory ahead of it.”

Technology Strategy Expands Beyond Inventory Optimization

S&S indicated ApparelSoft IQ is only the first stage of a broader intelligence strategy.

Over time, the technology is expected to support additional automation and customer-facing functionality, including smarter product recommendations and business insights designed to help decorators and promotional product distributors scale more efficiently.

The announcement builds on S&S technology initiatives including ZeroTouch, which automates production-ready workflows, and the FAST Platform, which connects customers to fulfillment partners through automated end-to-end production systems.

For apparel decorators increasingly balancing speed, inventory uncertainty, and customer expectations, investments like ApparelSoft IQ signal how distribution technology is becoming a competitive differentiator.
