Rush Order Tees turned a high-pressure playoff deadline into a custom apparel success story, completing embroidered leather jackets for the Philadelphia Flyers’ partner group in just seven days.
According to the company, the project began moments after the Flyers clinched a playoff berth in mid-April, when defenseman Travis Sanheim texted his wife about securing custom jackets for the team’s wives and girlfriends ahead of the postseason. With the Flyers’ first home playoff game against the Pittsburgh Penguins fast approaching, the group turned to Philadelphia-based Rush Order Tees to complete the custom leather embroidery project on deadline.
Fast-Turnaround Embroidery Under Playoff Pressure
Rush Order Tees added Flyers branding across multiple jacket placements, including the front, right arm, and back, while also personalizing each jacket with individual player names and initials.
The project was also highlighted in a May 17 article in The Athletic, which examined the growing trend of custom NHL playoff jackets worn by players’ wives and girlfriends.
“We were glad to do the work,” said Josh Hannum, vice president of sales at Rush Order Tees. “The Flyers’ partners had a clear vision and a short clock. We were proud the jackets were ready in time for the first home game.”
Leather Embroidery Highlights Specialty Apparel Capabilities
Leather embroidery presents unique production challenges compared with standard apparel decoration, requiring specialized handling, digitizing precision, and production expertise to avoid damaging the garment while maintaining premium stitch quality.
Founded in 2002, Rush Order Tees has built its reputation around rapid-turn custom apparel production, offering services including screen printing, embroidery, direct-to-film (DTF) printing, chenille patches, and specialty embellishments. The Flyers playoff project underscores the company’s ability to handle technically demanding decoration work under aggressive turnaround timelines.
Custom Apparel Demand Continues to Expand Beyond Traditional Merch
Projects like the Flyers playoff jackets reflect a broader trend toward premium personalization in sports apparel, branded merchandise, and event-driven custom apparel. As decorators expand beyond standard tees and fleece into outerwear, leather goods, and specialty embellishment, speed and technical versatility continue to differentiate providers in the marketplace.
